During our last visit to Kenyon, several stakeholders expressed the desire to add online forms to their Web pages— letting users submit information directly over the Web, instead of (presumably) printing out and sending in PDFs.
Although this isn’t an inherently complicated request, we understand it poses some challenges for the Ingeniux CMS. Rather than bend the CMS to suit this particular need, we recommend creating a simple, secure application to build forms on a new subdomain of kenyon.edu, that would let Kenyon users quickly create forms, selecting from a few basic options, and post them online to a central location (something like forms.kenyon.edu).
Users would be able to build forms from scratch using an incredibly user-friendly management tool, creating and naming as many form fields as desired. We might then give users the option of having results e-mailed as plain text, in a spreadsheet-friendly format such as comma-delimited text (.csv), or other formats.
If this idea piques your interest, we’d gladly put together a proposal and a cost estimate. We have a great deal of experience in creating secure, efficient Web applications, and are confident we could create something ideal for the job.
We typically develop applications in PHP/MySQL; we have a very diverse portfolio of solutions that we’ve created for our higher ed clients in the past. We’d be happy to discuss our approach to ensuring security and performance in our Web applications.
If hosting a PHP application on Kenyon’s servers is unworkable, we do offer a remote publishing service, called LiveWhale, that lets users maintain content on our servers and output public facing content to your own servers. We can discuss this in more detail if you like.
